Which Chamber of Commerce?

The Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, once a useful business network, has become a spent force over the last couple of years, appearing to be more lobby group than business organisation. Membership has slowly dwindled and the calendar of events seems to be gathering dust! Apart from bi-monthly meetings there seems to be very little in the way of business networking opportunities.

So what is the alternative?

It could be argued that a change in leadership would do the trick, as has been suggested by some members. But is a small, local chamber really equipped to deal with the onset of a global recession?

There are three “accredited” chambers in Wales (Newport , West Wales , North Wales ) that affiliate to the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) . Accredited Chambers are required to use the Combined Code principles of good corporate governance, be an Investor in People and work with a business improvement tool such as the Business Excellence Model. They are the perfect vehicle for small businesses to promote themselves.

In Wales, Newport is the largest with around 500 members, providing services, information and guidance to their members.

Benefits include:

  • business advice
  • promotion
  • skills development & training
  • lobbying and networking
  • All Year round Business Support
  • Export Documentation and Advice
  •  Breakfast, Lunches and other Networking Events
  • Information/Product Sourcing
  • Policy Representation
  • Chamber Legal Expenses
  • Insurance
  • Marketing Database
  • All Year round Chamber Team Support
  • Sign Posting to Support Agenices
  • Assistance with Access to European Funding
  • Social Events Calendar

The Newport Chamber offers exceptional value for money, with a professional support network behind it.

With the global economic environment being the way it is your business needs all the support it can get!

Becoming a member of the Newport Chamber guarantees sound support and advice (from experienced business professionals) and a robust infrastructure providing security for your business networking.

Conclusion: The only realistic choice for a business support network has to be  ngb2b
